Santiago at Big Little Lies Premiere, Los Angeles, California 7th February 2017

Santiago Cabrera was at the Big Little Lies Premiere on 7th February 2017.  It took place at TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles, Hollywood, California and Santiago attended along with his wife, Anna Marcea.

Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kravitz, Laura Dern, Adam Scott and others were on the red carpet, as was Liane Moriarty author of the best-selling book of the same name.

HBO’s limited mini series ‘Big Little Lies’ has 7 x 60 minute episodes directed by Jean-Marc Vallee.  It is based on Moriarty’s bestseller which follows three mothers of first graders whose seemingly perfect lives unravel to the point of murder. David E. Kelley wrote the script and Santi plays Joseph, a community theatre director who strikes up a relationship with Witherspoon’s character while working together on a musical production.  Joseph is a minor character in the book but the role has been fleshed out and expanded by Kelley. Santi has worked with HBO and Nicole Kidman before, having co-starred in ‘Hemingway and Gellhorn’.

Big Little Lies also stars Alexander Skarsgard, James Tupper, Kathryn Newton and Hong Chau.

Big Little Lies early reviews

Variety (reviewed by Sonia Saraiya)

“The show’s strength is that it makes the experience of inevitable catastrophe so watchable, like being enraptured by a car-crash in slow motion. You live with creeping dread, and so do the characters.

And underneath the show’s mystery is a searing glimpse at the longevity of trauma and the limitations of intimacy, especially when it comes to the gender that still, even in the most affluent and progressive circles, tends to be the one that raises the children.”

Indie Wire (reviewed by Ben Travers)

“What drives the story is the unveiling of truth: yes, the answers behind who did the damning deed and who died, but also the truth buried deep inside people who have come to accept life as it is, rather than what they want it to be. At a time when the world is waking up to harsh realities every morning, seeing personal, non-political self-discoveries is an enriching experience that doubles as escapism. “Big Little Lies” is a series built to be as entertaining as it is enlightening, and they’ve pulled off both feats with great zeal.”
